This project transformed an urban backyard in Detroit into a modern, low-maintenance retreat by avoiding the traditional turf lawn in favor of sustainable and stylish hardscaping. Crushed granite walkways and a spacious patio create functional pathways and a comfortable hang-out area, while modern rectangular garden beds with sleek metal edging provide structure and visual appeal. A combination of native and low-maintenance perennials add seasonal interest, and two raised beds dedicated to herbs incorporate edible gardening into the design. This design is perfect for those seeking a modern, eco-friendly outdoor space that balances form and function.
